		<description><![CDATA[&lt;strong&gt;covers everything, so naturally some details are lacking&lt;/strong&gt; This book is excellent, and it&#039;s huge: 600 pages.  It&#039;s profesionally edited with beautiful illustrations and photos.  It&#039;s organized well.  It covers everything from how an image sensor works(in detail) to how to employ the most-used functions in an image editor.  Photoshop is the software he takes examples from in the book.Other subjects he covers that aren&#039;t often found in other photography books: how to use a white balance card; calibrating your monitor so the image you see on the screen is accurate; a couple of tidbits on Canon SLRs that aren&#039;t in the Canon manual(i.e. in spot, partial, or center-weight metering mode, if you press the shutter button halfway down, hold it, and reframe, the camera will automatically re-meter your scene and choose new exposure settings; but in evaluative metering mode, the exposure locks once the shutter button is pressed halfway down, even if you reframe); proper settings to output your images, whether it&#039;s to attach to an email or print at...]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[&lt;strong&gt;Well written, extensive coverage, good book to have&lt;/strong&gt; Books in photography have improved dramatically the last decade or so. Dry manuals have been replaced with a more narrative/communicative style. Add the improved quality of the layout and you have wonderful books right and left. I was turned off by the &#039;digital&#039; on the title of the book. Few years back I told my self to never buy a photography book with that word on its title. I guess my early experience was that such books would focus on the digital aspect of the &#039;new&#039; photography and greatly omit the very important elements of photography (common to all &#039;forms&#039; of photographic media).Not so with this author. I found this book to have an excellent balance on all elements of photography with a very thorough coverage in each (digital concepts included). It will serve well for beginners, as well as for intermediate photographers.Do not underestimate the writing style of an author. I do know that not everyone likes the same writing style.
