Fantastic monitor, perfect resolution and size. I have tried several monitors since ditching an iMac for a Mac Mini + 3rd party monitor combination. This is the best I have found and I will be sticking with it. Here is why:Size is perfect:I tried the 29″ LG 21:9. It is simply too small: like a 23″ 16:9 display, but wider. This, instead, is like a 27″ display, but wider. In other words, it is a good size – arguably perfect size – display if you just consider the 16:9 part. But then it is wider than that. That extra space is like a sudden epiphany. I am not a gamer. The extra space is really useful, to real people, for multitasking, keeping several documents open, for study, writing, as well as – of course – any kind of pro application. And if, by any chance, you have a movie that is originally in 21:9 (think The Great Beauty)… you’re close to the size a medium-large TV.Resolution is perfect:I have also a LG 34UM95 on order from B&H. When it arrives I will do a direct comparison. But…

Initial Review First 24hrs with this monitor I have only had a chance to use my PS3 on it. Based off other reviews (of which there are only a few) one thing I was very concerned with was the wide mode and cinema mode that takes 1920×1080 16:9 and fills the 21:9 screens. Many reviews said that this drastically distorts the image to almost unwatchable. I really have to disagree with these statements while the source material is distorted and there is a bit of loss around the edges but it really is not so bad that you notice or that your eyes strain so often when trying to fill the screen with lower res footage. So initially i have to say that I am very pleased with my purchase. Another note the monitor comes with color calibration test results from LG QA. While any sort of material like this should be taken with a grain of salt considering that LG is one of the 5( i believe there are still only five) panel producers in the world it wouldn’t behoove them to outright lie and is a nice addition…
